Manage assignment and plan states

States protect planning history. Use the available action rather than creating duplicate work or changing completed evidence.

• Draft: editable setup; an administrator can activate or cancel it.
• Active: eligible for teaching and, when policy allows, rolling generation.
• Paused: future automation stops; an administrator can resume, complete, or cancel it.
• Completed: terminal plan history.
• Cancelled: terminal plan history.

Only a school administrator changes a plan’s state. Pausing supersedes eligible unstarted generated future work but preserves started, completed, manual, and edited evidence.

• Draft can be approved to Published, rejected, postponed to a supplied date, cancelled, edited through replacement, or regenerated when generated.
• Published can become In progress through matched teaching activity, be postponed, cancelled, replaced, or regenerated when generated.
• Postponed can be published again, postponed to a new date, cancelled, replaced, or regenerated when generated.
• In progress advances from recorded outcomes; staff should not replace its evidence.
• Completed, Rejected, Needs repeat, Superseded, and Cancelled explain preserved outcomes or history. The interface exposes only valid actions for the current state.

1. Open the plan and review every segment and explanation.
2. For one draft, choose Approve or Reject.
3. For several reviewed drafts, select them and choose Approve selected.
4. Confirm the resulting state. Publishing can notify eligible users and make the assignment visible in teaching or parent views.

1. Enter Postpone until for an unstarted draft, published, or already postponed item.
2. Review the impact preview and choose Postpone.
3. When it is ready, verify its range and choose Publish.

An eligible unstarted draft, published, or postponed assignment can also be cancelled after confirmation. Reject and cancel terminalize its unstarted segments. Postpone and cancel queue a durable future-window reconciliation; the result states whether anything changed and whether maintenance is pending.

1. For a draft, published, or postponed assignment, choose Edit assignment.
2. Review the warning that the original will remain in history.
3. Correct the date, ordered segments, explanation, or staff notes.
4. Choose Save as draft or Save and publish.
5. Verify View replacement links the old record to the new one.

The editor supports one to eight ordered segments. Add/remove controls preserve focus and submitted values after validation. If another user changes the assignment first, Waqar returns a stale-version message and keeps the draft so you can review the current revision before retrying.

The original becomes Superseded. Never use replacement to conceal work already assessed. See replanning for plan-wide future changes.
