Use ratings and repeat outcomes

Every recitation receives an outcome on the session’s halqa grading scale. Waqar supports a 1–5 or 1–10 scale, plus the special Repeat (0) outcome.

The school should define what each non-zero value means for teaching practice. When recording:

1. Confirm the halqa and its displayed scale.
2. Compare the attempt with the school’s agreed rubric.
3. Choose one value from the available scale.
4. Add mistake tags and a concise note when they help explain the outcome.
5. Review the saved row before closing the session.

Do not compare a raw value from a five-point halqa directly with one from a ten-point halqa without accounting for the different scale.

Choose Repeat (0) when the attempt should be recorded but does not count as completed progress. Waqar:

• keeps the attempt in history;
• labels it Repeat;
• does not count its lines or pages as completed progress;
• can create or influence a repeat follow-up in an enabled Learning Plan;
• includes the attempt in repeat-related reporting.

Zero is therefore not “missing rating” and not an ordinary lowest passing score. Not recorded attendance or an absent student is also not a repeat.

When Learning Plans are enabled, the school has a minimum completion rating. A non-zero recorded value can still be below that threshold and affect assignment outcome according to the configured policy. Check the effective settings rather than assuming every non-zero attempt completes planned work.

Fix an accidental rating while the session is open through the supported workflow. Once closed, the record is historical. Do not change attendance, duplicate the recitation, or alter a plan manually merely to force a desired progress total.
