Select a Quran range
Waqar stores a recitation as an inclusive start and end position: From surah/ayah through To surah/ayah.
Enter the range
Section titled “Enter the range”- Identify the first ayah the student actually recited.
- Choose its From surah.
- Choose its From ayah.
- Identify the last ayah actually recited.
- Choose its To surah and To ayah.
- Compare the displayed range with the Mushaf used during the session.
- Review the calculated line count before saving.
The ayah choices are bounded by the selected surah’s known ayah count.
Ordering rule
Section titled “Ordering rule”The start must be earlier than or equal to the end in canonical Quran order:
- a lower surah number can precede a higher surah number;
- within one surah, the starting ayah must not be greater than the ending ayah;
- a single-ayah recitation uses the same position for start and end.
Even when a curriculum progresses through surahs in descending order, each individual stored segment remains ordered with ascending ayahs. Record separate segments rather than reversing a Quran range.
Cross-surah work
Section titled “Cross-surah work”A range may cross surah boundaries when it represents the actual continuous work. Verify both boundary ayahs carefully. Do not enlarge a range merely to match a planned assignment: daily work records what occurred, while planning matching evaluates the relationship afterward.
Invalid range problems
Section titled “Invalid range problems”If saving reports an invalid surah, ayah, or range:
- reselect each surah so its ayah list refreshes;
- confirm that the ayah exists in that surah;
- check that start does not follow end;
- confirm that you did not transpose the start and end;
- keep identifiers and numerals in their natural left-to-right direction when reading mixed Arabic content.
