Record a recitation

A recitation records what a present student actually read and the teaching outcome. It belongs to one open session and becomes part of reports and, where enabled, Learning Plan matching.

• The session is open.
• You are the responsible sheikh or an authorized school administrator.
• The student belongs to the active school and session halqa.
• Attendance is saved as Present.

1. In the session, choose Add recitation.
2. Select a present student.
3. Choose the Recitation type:
   • New memorization
   • Recent review
   • Distant review
   • Tilawa
4. Search From surah by Arabic name, English name, or number, then choose From ayah. The original surah list remains usable if JavaScript is unavailable.
5. Search To surah, then choose To ayah.
6. Review the calculated line count shown by the form.
7. Choose the rating, including Repeat (0) only when the attempt needs repetition.
8. Select the observed common-mistake tags.
9. Add concise, necessary teaching notes.
10. Choose Save recitation and review the new row.

When a student is selected, Recent recitations shows the latest effective record for each recitation type. Continue from here copies the prior ending boundary only after you choose it. If you already typed a range, Waqar asks before replacing it. A context-loading error never prevents saving a valid recitation.

The session lists the student, localized recitation type, Quran range, outcome, line count for completed work when available, notes, and mistake tags. If Learning Plans are enabled, Waqar attempts to match the actual range to an eligible assignment segment; ambiguous or unmatched cases remain for supported review rather than being silently forced.

• The Quran range must be valid and ordered from an earlier or equal position to a later or equal position.
• The selected ayah must exist in its surah.
• The rating must fit the session’s halqa grading scale.
• Notes are limited and must not contain unrelated personal data.
• Closed sessions reject new recitations.
• Only present students can be selected.

Use Correct to append a replacement or Void when no replacement should count. Enter a reason in either case. Waqar preserves the original record, marks which version is effective, recalculates supported Learning Plan effects, and retains an attributable correction history. Normal history, reports, exports, parent progress, and recent context use only the effective record.

• The assigned sheikh can correct their own open session.
• A school administrator can correct any open session in that school.
• Correcting a closed session is limited to a school administrator and requires the administrator’s current password as step-up verification.
• A settled Learning Plan conflict blocks the whole correction; no partial record is saved.

Never add a second ordinary recitation to conceal a mistake, and never put private contact information in the correction reason.
